Roof Top Services LLC recently performed a residential roof repair and replacement for a client in Keswick, VA, which is located in Albemarle County.
The homeowner wanted her leaking flat rubber roof that was over her bricked porch entry to be looked at. She heard about us from a couple neighbor friends so she gave us a call to have us come take a look.
We were able to come out the next day, which was a Tuesday. The roof was apparently installed by someone when the house was originally built. The porch structure was brick and there were two primary issues with the flat rubber roof. The first was that the transition from the flat rubber to the brick bullnose, where the brick rolled over on the porch. There was no good way to seal that seam as designed and it caused leakage. We told her we would make a conforming copper bullnose cap, which would enable us to properly attach the rubber roof to the metal, creating a watertight seam that solved water infiltration problems with the old seam.
The second problem was that the roof was truly flat and held standing water. The water would shed off onto the sidewalk when it rained, causing damage to the sidewalk below. We told her we could install tapered insulation board to direct the water off in a direction that does not cause any damage and will also prevent water from pooling and standing on the roof.
She loved our plans and contracted with us to perform the job. We installed the new rubber roof with sloped drainage to ensure water falls from the roof in a direction that doesn’t cause any damage. She was thrilled with the beauty of the conformed copper we made, and happy to have a resolution for the seam issue.
The homeowner loves the way her roof looks with the copper and is happy to not have any further problems with leaking or sidewalk damage! Thanks for choosing Roof Top Services, LLC for your porch roof replacement project!
